The most basic of all geometric constructions is constructing a segment congruent to a given segment. Geometric construction is done using a compass and straight edge on a paper. It is also possible to do this construction in GeoGebra. GeoGebra has a Compass and other tools that can help students explore and learn more about geometry. The GeoGebra Worksheet Congruent Line Segments was designed to introduce students to geometric construction. It does not require knowledge of GeoGebra as the tools and the procedure on how to use them are already embedded in the instructions. Click the image below to do the construction.

I love to develop mathematical tasks and activities that involve basic mathematics concepts but have the potential to engage both teachers and students in higher level thinking. I am particularly interested in students’ learning trajectories of big ideas in number, algebra, geometry, and in the use of GeoGebra in learning mathematics. More.
